This morning we packed a picnic lunch and went with the Blakely’s, and the Smith’s to climb Mt. Longonot. It was very foggy so we could not see very far ahead of us. Finally about 1 o’clock it cleared up to where we could see down in the crater. Tonight we went with the Batemans to Nairobi to see Roger Swan off to the states.
Hiking Mt. Longonot was always an interesting trip. Alan and I have climbed the mountain several times, circled the crater at least twice, and gone into the crater once. Dad has done most of the above with the addition of escaping killer African bees on one occasion.
Be sure to follow the link to Mt. Longonot because that webcam is located at R.V.A. In the foreground you can see the field Alan played rugby on and in the background is Kijabe hill to the left and Longonot to the right. This cam is real-time so if it is dark go to the archives.
When Redford was in the movie, “Out of Africa” he flew around the crater with his co-star Meryl Streep.
